Alterne (DK,BE,FI)

Pan-European Dream Folk.

Alterne is a Danish–Estonian–Belgian folk trio bringing together different European folk traditions in a shared musical language. The group features Danish singer Ida Marie Jessen, Estonian accordionist Maimu Jõgeda, and Belgian violinist Oscar Beerten.

Their music is song-led and atmospheric, built on violin, accordion, and voice, and shaped by repetition, texture, and a clear sense of melody. While rooted in folk traditions, Alterne also draw gently on pop and ambient influences, making their sound both distinctive and accessible.

Visiting the Faroe Islands in connection with the Faroese Folk Music Festival, Alterne present their pan-European approach to contemporary folk music—dreamy in tone, but grounded in tradition.
