Nigel Kennedy

G! Festival in association with Nordic House present – Nigel Kennedy

For over twenty-five years, British violinist, Nigel Kennedy, has been acknowledged as one of the world’s leading virtuoso’s. His unique talent and mass appeal have brought fresh perspectives to both Classical and Contemporary music. He is the best-selling Classical Violinist of all time.

His work crosses all musical boundaries and generations. His collaborations with Jeff Beck, The Who, and Kate Bush, who credits him as ‘bringing Classical music to the people’ – have given new context to music in the 21st Century. George Martin, the Legendary Beatles Producer credits Nigel as having ‘done more than anybody to bring the world of Pop and Classical music together’

Equally at home with Elgar and Duke Ellington, in the 90s he begun to change the image of classical music with his record breaking release of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Selling 3 million copes worldwide and demonstrating you don’t have to dress like an undertaker to play it, or adopt an expression of deepest mourning to listen to Classical Music.

Simply, he’s proven great music, is great music.

With BACH meets KENNEDY Nigel Kennedy presents a typically maverick musical programme celebrating the music of Bach. He combines works from Johann Sebastian Bach with his own jazzy versions including guitar, drums and contrabass, to take the audience on an exhilarating journey from baroque to contemporary music, incorporating influences of classical, jazz, celtic, folk, and rock.

It is a huge honour and great pleasure to introduce the Faroe Islands, to Nigel Kennedy.
