Nagirčalmmiid represents Tróndheim Calling at the G! Festival

Norwegian duo Nagirčalmmiid will perform at this year's G! Festival, representing Tróndheim Calling.

The collaboration between G! Festival, Faroese Music Export, and the Norwegian festival resulted in three Faroese acts, Dania O. Tausen, Jazzygold, and Joe & The Shitboys, playing there earlier this year.

Representatives from G! attended Tróndheim Calling and chose Nagirčalmmiid to play at this years G! Festival.

The name Nagirčalmmiid means "with tired eyes" and is undoubtedly a description of the band's origins, which emerged from the darkness of quarantine during the spring of 2020.

"When life is heavy, you should just write even heavier music," both musicians decided and started composing doom metal, but in their own unique way.

This is heavy, but also at times delicate, harsh, and melancholic. It can also be considered somewhat punk and noisy, not least because they incorporate traditional joik singing into their distinctive music.

Although they are only two, they make just as much noise as a band with five or more musicians.

Over the past two years, they have been active in concert tours around Norway, including performances at Tróndheim Calling, Bylarm, Inferno, öyafestivalen, and Miðgardsblot.

Their self-titled debut EP was released in 2020, and their first full-length album is set to be released this year. In February, the first single from the album, "Down To The Bone," was released.
