Church Concerts at G!

In collaboration with the priest and the church council in Gota, G! is organizing church concerts in Gota Church this year. We will present three concerts featuring Klingra, Gabriel Gold, and Yann Tiersen.

Since the beginning, G! has incorporated the church into the festival space, inviting the spiritual realm. This year, the festival itself enters the spiritual realm.

Church concerts are something very special. The church space provides a unique setting, created for contemplation, spirituality, as well as singing and music. Here, the music is allowed to resonate within the special ambiance of the church. Therefore, we are excited to present the new lineup.

We have also made an effort to find the right artists for these concerts.

Gabriel Gold

Gabriel Gold is a composer and multimedia artist from San Francisco, California, and Reykjavik, Iceland. He is known for his ethereal and haunting vocals, minimalist piano playing, and captivating atmospheric soundscapes. Illuminate SF describes him as "A mystical voice and music that moves one through both the deep joy and sorrows of the Soul." In addition to his music, he has released two EPs, "Halo" (2015) and "Live at the Grace Cathedral" (2018), and is currently working on a new release produced by Birgir Jón Birgisson, scheduled to come out this year. He is also working on a multimedia project inspired by the Arctic landscape and glaciers.

Klingra

Klingra has also explored Arctic themes in their latest release, inspired by the Faroese harbor in Greenland and featuring storytelling by keyboardist Dánjal á Neystabø.

Klingra is a newly formed band consisting of experienced musicians who have played in bands such as Jack White, Savage Rose, Afenginn, Eivør, and Teitur, among others.

Their debut album "...eftir" has just been released, and the band has recently been on a well-received concert tour in the Nordic countries. The reviews have been very positive.

The improvisational and free-spirited nature of their music has proven to be fruitful for Klingra. Emerging from the band Afenginn in 2020, Klingra flourishes in a space where everything irrelevant is stripped away. Thus, Klingra creates a unique room where the members explore every corner in close proximity.

From this room, through the cracks in the walls, a sonic image emerges, a fusion of atmospheric pop, classical, and electronic music. The music and lyrics in Faroese are carefully crafted to create an artistic space that is both complex and emotionally evocative.

Klingra aims to invite the listener into an aesthetic realm that creates space for thoughts and emotions, where time and place drown in an idea.

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen has close ties to The Faroes, after working with Orka and Ólavur Jákupsson.

His soundtrack for the film "Amélie," has been played nearly a billion times on Spotify.

The widely acclaimed film used songs from Tiersen's first three albums as the soundtrack. However, he is much more than just "Amélie."

As an artist, he has released numerous albums, engaged in interesting collaborations with other musicians and composers, and composed music for films.

His music encompasses various classical and contemporary instruments, with a particular emphasis on the electric guitar, piano, synthesizers, and violin. But there is also room for others, such as melodica, xylophone, toy piano, harpsichord, accordion, and even a typewriter.

He primarily sees himself as a musician who focuses on concert tours and releasing music. This year, you
