MOTHER CREATURE (MAMMUSKEPILSIÐ)

A daughter attempts to pull the monster of her childhood out from under the bed in an original, deeply personal and creative film about her mother's mental illness. The film for which Maria Tórgarð won both the Geytin Award and the Audience Award in 2026, will be screened in Fjósid at G! Festival. Maria will introduce the film herself, and Gunnvá Zachariassen will read from the poetry collection Leitanin eftir at vera (The Searsch for Existence), which inspired the film. The collection is written and illustrated by the director’s mother, Katarina Nolsöe. It is a captivating fusion of text and imagery that Maria Tórgarð has expanded into this moving film with Mammuskepilsið.
