Eivör (FO)

“There is music in every situation you get yourself into.”

Eivör – vocalist, instrumentalist and songwriter possesses a voice of rare beauty and power. Born to the Faroe Islands, Eivör’s early musical forays were steeped in Faroese musical traditions. While an enduring love of Faroese culture remains at the heart of her work, its expression has been widened through profound interaction with other traditions.

In 2015 Eivör released two albums – BRIDGES in English and SLÖR in Faroese. Both albums were created in the same time period, and despite their differences, there are also similarities. Thematically they deal with a lot of the same questions – but from different angles and maybe they also reveal different answers. Like sisters they are similar but not the same. Eivör remains one of the biggest names to emerge from the vibrant Faroese music scene.
