Marius Ziska is a fine thread in the fabric of Faroese music. With a catalogue and touring schedule that reaches well beyond the walls of his Faroe Islands, 2018 saw the long awaited follow-up to the critically acclaimed 'Heim’ album. This new release, 'Portur' (Faroese for 'gate') is solely sung in Hans Marius' native tongue, with lyrics written by the talented wordsmith Hans Jacob Kollslíð.
‘Portur’ is a concept album about humans having two different kinds of realities, an inner and an outer, with the five senses being gates between these two realities. How the impressions of the outside world influence our thinking, feeling and acting. Eight soulful songs, reminiscent of the vastness of the Faroese landscape, that combine acoustic and electronic elements in a thoroughly contemporary form of Indie Pop. The album received ‘Record of the year’ award at the Faroese Music Awards.
The album was produced by Mikael Blak, recorded and mixed by G!'s Fred Ruddick, and mastered by legendary New York engineer Greg Calbi.
