Bombino (NE)

Omara ‘Bombino’ Moctar born in Niger of the Tuareg. A nomadic people, who have long been recognised as warriors, traders and travellers of the Sahara Desert.

Leaving school just aged 9, Bombino fled the first Tuareg rebellion, and chanced upon a guitar. He fought the turbulant tide of change in his homeland, amidst rebellion and uprising, to become hailed by Rolling Stone as "a perfect match of sound and soul that introduces a new guitar hero”.

Bombino’s sophomore record was Produced by Dan Auerbach of the black keys and debuted at #1 on the Billboard world music Chart, and iTunes World Chart, and is described by the BBC as “utterly, utterly fantastic”.

Bombino’s life and travels have exposed him to the problems of his people. And through music and education, he has taken the mission of helping the Tuareg achieve equal rights, and maintain their rich cultural heritage.

Rolling Stone “A perfect match of sound and soul, the set introduces a new guitar hero.”

New York Times “Nomad is a seductive album that manages to bring a distant Islamic culture unexpectedly close through the universal language of rock 'n' roll.”

L.A. Times "A killer document not only for fans of North African guitar music; anyone who has ever appreciated a master player make magic on a Fender.”

BBC World Service “Utterly, utterly fantastic.”
